Carter is waiting for a home

**Update – We are happy to announce that Carter has been adopted! **

Recently, Mitch our canine team leader took Carter home for a reprieve from shelter life. He shared his time at home with Carter. This sweet senior is looking for a home to settle down in. His adoption fee is waived, please help up spread the word about Carter and lets get him that home he deserves!

“On Tuesday I got back to work from a weeklong vacation where I got to relax, unwind and do all of my favorite things. Upon coming back to the shelter, I thought to myself why not give a dog a vacation? The shelter can be a frightening and scary place with all the noise and strangers around in front of you, but it can be especially scary to a senior animal who only knew life with a family and a home to call his own.
I took Carter home for the night and from the moment he got in my car I saw the happiness in his eyes and a little bark of relief, I think he said thank you

for getting me away from all the loud huskies who talk too much lol. Once we got to my house he ran around my backyard and was acting the youngest I’ve ever seen him. He then met my older dog who was not a big fan of him, but Carter wanted all the snuggles from her!! We rotated inside to outside to avoid my grouchy old lady dog for the night. He would lay down and snuggle against my feet in between his 5-minute spurts of energy. When it was time for bed, I gave him the option to sleep with me but he decided he would rather sleep in the crate with the door open so he could come out and check on me throughout the night. He did great in the house with no accidents and letting me know when he needed to go out. Overall, Carter is one of the best dogs I have ever fostered and comes along with some nice tricks such as sit, shake, and even “go to bed” where he’ll crawl into his crate and get comfy. Please come visit Carter I want my best friend to find the home he deserves” <3 –Mitch

About me: I was very scared when I first arrived at the Humane Society. The staff spent a lot of time with me and I learned to trust them and they all quickly became my friend. I really enjoy lounging in a dog bed hanging out with people.
